Banana Bread

Banana bread also known as plum cake is a recipe that has more than one advantage it is simple and quick to make and it allows us to use overripe bananas that would otherwise go to waste.

Although cavendish bananas are not among the most nutritious varieties (in terms of antioxidants and beta-carotene) they do contain a good dose of potassium and are inexpensive. Even when their skin is brown they are still tasty for a few days but not everyone likes them when they reach such an advanced stage of ripeness, so the banana bread recipe is essential

The original recipe is American and it appears to have been discovered as early as 1930. On February 23rd there is also a National Banana Bread Day.

The recipe we provide does not include butter which is found in almost all versions but rather oil. Even vanilla extract like cinnamon is a common ingredient in American recipes. As a result, you can add them to your liking.

The plum banana is used in the banana bread. The original recipe is difficult to find, and there are several variations. We have a very simple quick and butter-free one for you. This classic American dessert can be served for breakfast with butter and jam or it can be enjoyed on its own.

  • 3 bananas
  • 250 g of brown sugar
  • 3 eggs

  • 250 g of "00" flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda

    1. Begin by slicing and mashing the bananas with a fork to prepare the ingredients for your banana bread. Then using an electric mixer, combine the eggs and brown sugar.
    2. Add the bananas and salt once the mixture is soft and fluffy.
    3. Pour in the milk (preferably lukewarm) and oil while continuing to mix.
    4. Sift together the flour baking powder and baking soda and stir them into the mixture. Continue whisking for another 10 minutes to achieve a smooth and very soft dough.
    5. Using a knob of butter, grease an 11 x 25 cm loaf pan. Pour in the mixture and bake for 45-50 minutes at 170° in a preheated oven.
    6. When the banana bread has cooled, cut it into slices and serve with butter, jam, chocolate, or cheese.
